Conapto builds new data center in security class 3

IT security is high on the agenda for companies both within the private and public sector and large investments are made on everything from web application firewalls to access control systems. Apart from protecting assets on the internet, more often demands are high when it comes to physical security in data centers.

During 2018, we saw new stricter laws when it comes to handling data, such as GDPR, NIS, a new security law in Sweden, as well as new strict recommendations from MSB and eSam, which has lead to an increased interest in data centers who are compliant with security class 3. Security call 3 is briefly described as a set of requirements on the physical components in a data center, e.g. level of surveillance and difficulty to access.

Conapto has chosen Coromatic for designing and building a new data center, which in full will be compliant with security class 3. The data center will be an extension on the current data center in Sollentuna and is planned to be finished early 2020.

”This is an initiative that is in line with our ambition to learn from our customers needs and market demand. We see a clear trend among our customers where physical security is a focus area for many. Therefore, it’s truly joyous that we have started the construction of a new data center which will be fullt compliant with the new requirements from MSB on security class 3. For our customers, this means that starting 2020, they can move their equipment to the new data center and be compliant with the security class, without doing any extra investments”, says Ann Wingård, COO at Conapto.

To be able to offer a complete data center in security class 3 enables both easier and more cost-efficient ways for our customers to maintain higher security standards. This is in addition to the fact that Conapto offers Swedish colocation with no connection to other countries as well as flexible agreements without lock in.

“An increased focus on both the physical security and cyber security, among with a will to outsource the infrastructure to colocation specialists, are two clear trends we identify on the market. Conapto are well positioned in both matters and we are happy to have been given the confidence to help them on their expansion”, says Åsa Wikensten, Head of Data Center and Connected Workplace at Coromatic.

Apart from being compliant with security class 3, the new data center will have redundant power supply, UPS and cooling – and will be available for maintenance while running – just like Conaptos current data centers.
